The early morning hours is when they venture back to the water where they spend the day feeding.
Reaching heights of about 25 centimeters and weighing about 1 kilomgram when fully grown, these Little Blue Penguins can be hard to see in the evening light especially from September to January when they are more frequently seen. They are permanent residents along the coastal shores of Oamaru, Otago in New Zealand so the warning sign is in effect daily throughout the year.
