While touring Rewa's Village located in Kerikeri in Northland, NZ, one can explore a house, rebuilt from sticks and items found in the forest, was once home to the Chef's family of a Maori village.
Rewa's Village is a reconstruction of an unfortified village used by the Maori people giving visitors a look at the way these people lived before the 18th century. Reconstruction of the Chef's Family house and the rest of the exhibits such as a cooking shelter, a weapons store, a fishing store, other Maori homes and storage areas were completed in 1969.
The village was named Rewa, after the second most powerful man in command of this Maori tribe and is open to the public on a daily basis while visiting Northland, NZ.
