A white tuft of hair on the head of a Cotton Topped Tamarin is where this cute animal got his name from. Cotton-topped refers to this mass of snow white colored hair which extends from its forehead, over its back and along either side of its head. White fur also adorns the neckline of the Cotton Topped Tamarin.
Its cute little face has little facial hair and on its forelimbs and hind limbs are long prominent claws. The Cotton Topped Tamarin is the smallest of all primates growing to a weight of approximately 432 grams and measuring 25 centimeters, including tail, in length.
At the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand, a group of male Cotton Topped Tamarins live amongst the trees in a habitat closely related to their natural environment.
