The sheer cliffs seen from the beautiful sandy beach near Black Reef, is home to Cape Kidnappers where Australasian Gannets come to Hawkes Bay, New Zealand to nest and breed. At low tide, the beach extends along the coastline where visitors to the area can enjoy the scenery and watch the Australasian Gannets soar overhead while diving for food.
The large rocks implanted into the sand on the beach are filed with holes and crevasses where small sea creatures hide. Once the water blankets the beach at high tide, the creatures will once again resurface to explore the ocean world.
